Happy Friday! Hope your week ends well.

I’m working at home. Harvard is inaugurating a new president this afternoon and I want to stay outta that traffic chaos!

Tried an amazing new Afghan restaurant in Allston – Ariana. GO!  It reminds me of Greek and Indian cuisine.

Beautiful dining room
Fresh pita bread and sauces
Mashawa soup – Lamb, munge beans, chick peas,
black-eyed peas and yogurt
Aush soup – Homemade noodle soup
served with beef sauce and mint yogurt
Kaddo – baked pumpkin
with garlic yogurt and ground beef sauce – the
tastiest food I’ve eaten all year!
Aushak – Ravioli filled with leeks and scallions
served on a garlic and mint yogurt sauce,
topped with ground beef and mint
Mantu – pastry shells filled with onions and beef,
served on yogurt and topped with carrots, yellow split peas

Lamb Lawand – Leg of lamb sautéed with onion, tomatoes,
garlic, mushrooms, fresh cilantro, yogurt and spices
served with sautéed spinach and challow rice
Sabzi challow – Spinach sautéed with chunks of lamb
and Afghan seasonings, served with challow rice
Korma lamb challow – Leg of lamb sautéed with onions, tomatoes,
garlic, green beans, potatoes and spices served with lentils

Fresh floral centerpiece
Dessert – pudeen – flan
Dessert – Bucklawa – Layers of homemade thin pastry
