I’m working at home. Harvard is inaugurating a new president this afternoon and I want to stay outta that traffic chaos!

Tried an amazing new Afghan restaurant in Allston – Ariana. GO!  It reminds me of Greek and Indian cuisine.  

Beautiful dining room 
Fresh pita bread and sauces
Mashawa soup – Lamb, munge beans, chick peas, 
black-eyed peas and yogurt
Aush soup – Homemade noodle soup 
served with beef sauce and mint yogurt
Kaddo – baked pumpkin 
with garlic yogurt and ground beef sauce – the 
tastiest food I’ve eaten all year! 
Aushak – Ravioli filled with leeks and scallions 
served on a garlic and mint yogurt sauce, 
topped with ground beef and mint
Mantu – pastry shells filled with onions and beef, 
served on yogurt and topped with carrots, yellow split peas
 and beef sauce
Lamb Lawand – Leg of lamb sautéed with onion, tomatoes, 
garlic, mushrooms, fresh cilantro, yogurt and spices 
served with sautéed spinach and challow rice
Sabzi challow – Spinach sautéed with chunks of lamb 
and Afghan seasonings, served with challow rice
Korma lamb challow – Leg of lamb sautéed with onions, tomatoes, 
garlic, green beans, potatoes and spices served with lentils 
and challow rice
Fresh floral centerpiece 
Dessert – pudeen – flan 
Dessert – Bucklawa – Layers of homemade thin pastry 
with walnuts, almonds, and pistachios, then baked 
and finished with honey caramel
Ferreny dessert – custard with fresh fruit
