Beautiful day, mid 50’s!  Washer repairman scheduled for 10-12…showed up at 12:30.  Ugh. Pennies stuck in the motor!  Yay!  “Only” $100.  Ugh.  Mom took me out to Thai lunch, then I watched her buy a mattress.  Quiet since then… Hope you had a special Saturday.  Wish I could get my hands in those shorts…

10:15pm
My diary says 36 yrs ago, you said good-bye at church before leaving for the military, shaking hands w/ the guys.  You grabbed me around my waist with the other at the back of my neck and kissed me!  You hadn’t touched me in 2 yrs, so I was very surprised and could not figure out why.  That and my fantasy about us losing our virginity are keeping me entertained tonight!  Mmm…

Boxing Day

Monday, December 26 BOXING DAY
7:09 am Phil: Water was not the only thing spraying
10:24 pm Phil: Hope you had a great day.

10:25 pm  low key, then nice dinner with friends traveling from Maine home to PA. Had a delicious piece of fish at Joe’s American Bar and Grill in Woburn.  You?

10:37 pm Phil: Visited friends, moved furniture to storage, loaded a uhaul, ready to head north. About to strangle my bride, she has issues with my family which piss me off. My daughter too, build all this drama that does not exist. There are times I simply can’t stand the woman. Tonight’s one of them. Ah well, the life I chose.
10:40 pm You are so productive! Sorry the gals are ticking you off… maybe I can make up for that a little, if you like.
10:41 pm Just going to bed, drive at four, thanks though

10:42 pm Got a quick photo…
if you’re not too tired.
But it’ll keep.  Sleep well, sweet man.  And safe travels.
I love you just the way you are.

Catching up

Saturday, December 17
9:58am
Good morning!  36 cloudy!  Hope you have a great Saturday!
10:31am
Phil: You too girl.  Snowing here. Yippee! Neighborhood party tonight.  Great time!
11:10am
Hiya, kid. Your house looks so festive in the snow!  And main buildings are so majestic.  Off to help mom stuff envelopes for her Christmas letters!

7:08pm
Had a fun dinner out at Christopher’s with a gal pal.  So good that the holidays make people remember to get together and catch-up!  You know I always think of you when I have a yummy crock of clam chowder.  The fried pickle sticks were good, too.  But the chocolate chip bread pudding was the best!

Closer examination

Thursday, December 8
8:02 am
Phil: Menu looked great! I love bacon wrapped dogs. Currently laying off anything like that. Trying to eat leaner. Slowly dropping pounds. Down eleven, want to shave off another 20. Too easy to get desk bound and blow off the workout. Getting better about it and the weight is coming down. Hope you have a great day .20 here today. Brrrr
12:07 pm
Good morning! Windy cold 37 and clear. I’ve cut back portions and am making better choices, too. Shared the bacon! The chicken fried bacon and cheese bacon grits? Divine.

I noticed in yesterday’s photos your face looks trimmer! Hard to tell about your body in the uniform. I’d like to make a closer examination w/o your clothes. Might have to be hands-on…or use my mouth in certain areas. mmmm. Would you like that? I wish I had a bunk at work!

I have to run a big holiday open house at the office today and asst who usually does the decorating called in sick! Whee! Have an awesome Thursday!

2:48 pm
Take a look at the cupcakes for the open house!  Some of those are red velvet!

Christmas Cookie Party

It’s time for a party!  A cookie party!  Yum.

A bunch of bloggers are kicking off the holiday season in style with a cookie exchange!  Jz from the blog A Reluctant Bitch encouraged us to post our favorite holiday cookie recipe today.

I adore cookies!  Cookie Monster is my favorite Sesame Street puppet.  Om nom nom.  I am not much of a baker, but I used to help my mom bake hundreds of cookies for church events – from lebkuchen that had to be started a month ahead of time, to sugar cookies, currant bars, icebox cookies, shortbreads, thumbprints with raspberry jam, molasses cookies, spritz, ginger bread men, and something she called “snowballs.”  I’ve learned many people call them “Mexican Wedding Cookies” or “Polvorones.”  Whatever you call them, they are a wonderful little sweet balls of cookie, nuts and sugar.  You know how much I adore eating balls!  And nuts!

Here’s the recipe and a photo.  Enjoy!

Snowballs
aka Mexican Wedding Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar, plus more for coating baked cookies
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting hands
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped into very small pieces
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar at low speed until it is smooth. Beat in the vanilla. At low speed gradually add the flour. Mix in the pecans with a spatula
With floured hands, take out about 1 tablespoon of dough and shape into a ball. Continue to dust hands with flour as you make more cookies. Place onto prepared cookie sheets about an 1/2 inch apart.
Bake for 15 minutes.
When still warm, roll in additional confectioners’ sugar. Cool on wire racks.
Eat!  Savor!
