Royals in India

From Sally Bedell Smith’s Facebook page:
A much anticipated moment today in India, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posed together at the Taj Mahal–symbolizing the strength of their marriage only days before their fifth wedding anniversary. The famous landmark was built in 1631 by the Murghal emperor for his wife to signify his eternal love.

William’s father, Prince Charles, visited the Taj in November 1980, less than three months before he proposed to Lady Diana Spencer. He vowed to return one day with his wife. The tragic sequel occurred 12 years later during the couple’s visit to India. Diana went to the Taj on her own, and in a famous photo of her sitting forlornly on a marble bench for five minutes, she let the world know that her marriage to the Prince of Wales was on the rocks.

William and Kate’s photo today went a long way toward proving that history isn’t repeating itself.p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 14.0px ‘.SF NS Text’; color: #1d2129; -webkit-text-stroke: #1d2129} span.s1 {font-kerning: none}
