A.Word.A.Day

Dear Readers,

Do you like words?  Learning new words?  Thinking about where they come from and when they were first used?  There’s this great website, Wordsmith.org and the guy who runs it will send you an email every weekday with fun new words.  You can see a sample at http://wordsmith.org/words/today.html
He usually has a theme for the week, like this week’s “Words derived from hand,” pronunciation links you can listen to, definitions, etymology, usage in sentences, and then my favorite part, an unrelated “A Thought for Today.”  I’m amazed how often that thought sticks with me throughout the day, making me think, or see life from a new angle.  His thought today screamed at me to be posted.
A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Every man has his secret sorrows, which the world knows not; and oftentimes we call a man cold when he is only sad. -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)
